Add On Cruise Control

New to the site and have already picked up some very good tips for my 89 Cherokee. It is a daily driver but occasionally have to carry the dogs with me to Houston. I have no cruise control and wondered about scrounging on off at the junk yard or going aftermarket. Suggestions, etc.?

I use cruise all the time. 10 minute drive at certain constant speed, its on. I don't know if it is good for milege, engine, trans whatever its just something I have always done. many times I am in 3rd while using it if it keeps rpm's around 2500 or lower.

depending on cost, ease of install you may like it.

I have a bad knee (right of course too), and pressing the gas for extended periods of time (more than 30 minutes) causes pain... one more reason I love cruise.

no experience with adding it on sorry. came stock. not sure whats entailed but I think I remember seeing a thread on it not long ago.

why would cruise on a manual be any dif than an auto? if your on a 3 hour hiway drive your not shifting it, just handy to have. its so easy, just set it, and forget it.

I just added cruise on my '92 and it was a breese, all i needed was the stalk for the steering collum and the vaccum cruise servo. and just connected the plugs, and presto. For your '89 i believe you need a yellow box under the dash, the stalk, and the servo, just search here on NAXJA for the complete list, then head to a junkyard to get your parts, i payed less then 6 bucks for my complete setup out of a '92. Good luck

nope, just all straight roads on level ground.
well there are those Rocky Mountains, but I can't imagine those are very big, since I have only seen them at a distance... of 100miles or so!

Whether your in an auto or stick I can't see you down shifting much while your cruising at 65mph, unless your passing up a hill I guess.

Honestly, I drive hills often enough, I set my cruise, when I need to hit the gas I do, when I let my foot off it goes back to cruise speed.
