I was waiting to read that he (brett) had pulled the H1 out and got them on their way...

yeah that's mine. that Hummer sat through the winter and I was one of the first people to go all the way through the trail that summer so I took some pictures to help the recovery crew to know what to expect.

There are some nice little lakes for fishing up one exit from Fordyce at Cisco Grove. One of them is Fordyce lake itself. There are a couple smaller ones before it. The road down to Fordyce is a rocky road but it should be an easy drive for you.

If you want to have some quick wheeling fun on way to these lakes then go to the Fordyce exit. When you get to the staging area take the trail to the right. This will put you on the signal peak trail up and over red mountain. From there you can go down to the lakes. Have fun and don't forget to check out the lookout post if you do take the trail over red mountain.

Did that Hummer H1 sit the whole year without anybody taking things off the roof rack or vandalizing the hummer like the pictures seem to indicate. Thats not the California I am familiar with...Anyway, did all the vehicles that broke dowm up there eventually make it out?

Yeah no shit...A friend of mine had to leave his toyota over night here in TN at a place called briceville mt. when he got there the next morning it had been stripped, rolled down off the road, and burnt.

Looking at that hummer maybe if he hadn't had it so loaded down it might not have broke, or maybe hummers just suck...I don't know.

it was buried under 20 feet of snow most the winter. It broke in October and the first storm of the year hit before they could recover it. I heard a few things were missing and they were probably stolen within a week or two before I was up there. I went in late May and I almost didn't make it out the end of the trail (35s aired down to 6psi and 2 lockers) because of snow and mud left from the winter.

Even better is their plan to use a helicopter ($35,000) to get the Hummer out.

Silly rich people.
