I just wanted to share...and figured this was OT for NAXJA.

So I installed an Eclipse headunit CD player in my 99 Classic last night...WOW. I really thought I would have to upgrade the speakers before I noticed much difference, nope! Just plugging in the headunit made worlds of difference. That stock tape deck really sucks hard. I'm not overly impressed with the dash kit I got from CarDomain, but it was cheap and it holds the headunit fairly well...just doesn't fit quite right.

If you've had any incling to do this DO IT. Not only is it silly easy to do (that center dash peice just snaps off! 100x easier than 84-96 XJs) but it makes a very noticable sound difference! I think it actually droans out my groaning wheel bearings now! :)

Installed a basic Alpine unit when I got my XJ to replace the jensen that died right after i got it. Makes a world of difference in the sound quality, especially with the stock speakers. And a Cherokee is about the easiest radio install i've ever seen/done...gotta really try to screw it up.
