I remember seeing something on this topic but can't find anything?
I have a 91 Cherokee 4.0, AW4

Took my Jeep in for a stalling problem and rebuilt engine prices, it's been there for four days and the guy has yet to get back to me and tells me he wants to fix the stalling problem after the new engine is put in. So I told him I'll be there tomorrow to pick it up. To my luck found a 4x4 shop that does a lot of Cherokee work but can't get to it till the end of the month. The fact that they work on a lot of Cherokees and are far cheaper, works for me.

Question? What parts should I buy new to put on the new engine? I was thinking of trying to get those parts that are hard to get to and since the engine would be out replace them now. I don't have an unlimited budget. But these are parts I was thinking of replacing. What to you think?

1) engine/ tranny mounts
2) water pump/thermostat
3) exhaust manifold & down pipe
4) crank position sensor
5) coolant temp sensor
6) fan clutch
7) ccv fittings/hoses
8) fuel injectors/ if money allows

You can get your injectors cleaned rebuilt and tested for around $120 or so. Check with your local carb/FI shop. You could save a few bucks there with about the same results.

Just a thought fer ya: I had my Jeep in the Stealership 3 times to try and diagnose my stalling problem on my '91. They never could, and charges me $100 plus to hook it up to their stupid diagnostic machine every time as well. Finally thought to give the internet a shot and found this site. Check you AIS (AIC? I forget (?) motor thingy right there on top there. Bought one for $25 bux and installed it in 5 minutes. Problem FIXED. I will never EVER go to a dealer for any advice or opinions. And this sites RULES. Take matters into your own hands, and trust this board...Jeepers Creepers...

Got mine back today. Mechanic said it stalled for him one time. He took the CPS off cleaned it up, sprayed some die electric grease on the connection put it back on. Said it ran fine after that. Drove it to work tonight no problems, Thank god. I checked to see if it was throwing any codes first, if it did I would have went that route first, but it didn't. I usually try to fix things on my own, but not knowing what was wrong I thought I could benifit from a
diagnostic machine.

Starting ordering new parts tonight, got a new manifold.
