I have an 88 mj with 4.0, auto,4x4 power steering and power brakes and A/C.
I just bought a set of FSM's for an 89, are there any major things different in the 89?
If so, anybody want to trade me for this set?
thanks
Wade

The 89 manual will suit you just fine. In fact, it's the first year of the "Chrysler" edition and is lightyears beyond the 88, which resembles my semi-worthless 86 manual. I have an 89 manual and an 88 MJ (and an 86 of each, and even a 91 manual that I picked up so I can be of more help with 91-92 specific questions) and haven't yet come across a problem with compatibility.

Not much. I think there were some wiring colour code changed between the 88 and 89 model years, but everything else is essentially the same. I use an 89 FSM set to maintain my 87, 88, AND 89 XJ's!

isn't it from 88 to 89 that they eliminated the C101 connector from the wiring harness?

My 89 manual shows a huge "bulkhead conector" with like 40 wires in it. Would that be the C101? It doesn't label it as such.
