Door Lock Problems - Alarm Install

I am having a hell of a time wiring my power door locks to my alarm. I cannot get them to lock. All my wiring is correct as per the instructions wich are vehicle specific.

I hope somebody can help

2001 XJ Sport
According to my instructions:

  • The ORANGE/PURPLE wire is to be GROUNDED to lock the door
  • The PINK/PURPLE wire is to be GROUNDED to unlock the door
I have tested this using the chassis to ground and both work perfectly.

In idle state the door lock wires produce voltage, which makes sense since they are to be grounded but:

  • The ORANGE/PURPLE only produces 5+v
  • The PINK/PURPLE produces 12+v
I think this is where the problem lies

The alarm is a CRIMESTOPPER CS-2012

It has two universal wires to control the doors:
  • GREEN provides GROUND when locking and 12+ POWER when unlocking
  • BLUE Provides GROUND when unlocking and 12+ POWER when locking
All wires to the doors and to the alarm have been tested and work as they are supposed to.

  • When ORANGE/PURPLE is connected to GREEN - nothing happens when either button on remote pressed
  • When PINK/PURPLE is connected to BLUE - the doors will unlock when the disarm button is pressed
SO, I am now thinking that maybe due to the ORANGE/PURPLE only carrying 5+V the alarm is not providing enough ground to actuate the locks. This is supported by the fact that it will actuate when the ORANGE/PURPLE is touched to frame.

Do I need a grounding relay here?
Or am I doing something wrong?
Is ther another wire from the switch?

You have a 5 wire door locking system. You will need two 5 terminal Bosch type relays to make this work. The two wires coming from the alarm will be used to trigger the lock/unlock relays respectively.

Relay #1 LOCK Terminate the pins as I say;
85 - lock wire on alarm
86 - B+ hot all times
87 - GROUND
87A - Car side of lock wire
30 - Door side of lock wire

Relay #2 UNLOCK
85 - Unlock wire on alarm
86 - B+ hot all times
87 - GROUND
87A - Car side of unlock wire
30 - Door side of unlock wire

Thanks for the reply. What I was thinking of doing was:

Relay #1 LOCK
85 - lock wire on alarm
86 - B+ hot all times
87 - GROUND
87A - (EMPTY)
30 - Door side of lock wire

Then I was just going to leave the unlock alone since it already works fine.

Would that work?
