Just wanted to post up some info I have on an exhaust shop. I bought rustys 2-1/2 cat back exhaust with a 40 series muffler and it was to short so I called around for some extra pipe. I called "Get Bent Exhaust" in Clackamas and he said he would give me the section of pipe for free from scrap. I took it down there and started talking to the guy, asked him how much just to weld the section of pipe in and then weld the pipe to the muffler. He said twenty bucks! He pulled it in there did an awesome job welding it up, and bolted all the mounts up. I am going to take my other Jeep in there in a few weeks to have him weld up a new muffler. He does awesome work and is a very good and reasonable guy. If anyone else wants exhaust I highly recomend him!

Why didn't you tell me about that yesterday?
I just had sunnyside automotive do mine today, $250 for new cat and catback. he didn't do exactly what i wanted though, said he couldn't squeeze 2.5 out the back so at the back section he tapered down to 2.25".
then he put some chrome tip on it...i XXXXing hate chrome.

eh, I've had exhaust shops tell me they won't touch magnaflow's cause they're garbage, looks like the price was about the same since I got a new cat...
...sunnyside auto did good work, i just want it done a little differently.

That sucks you didn't get exactly what you wanted but at least they did good work. At this Get Bent place the he quoted me $200 with the magnaflow and the flowmaster was cheaper. I know from experience flowmasters do not last very long. Magnaflows have a lifetime warrenty and are stainless so I am pretty sure the magnaflows are better. I didn't buy one though because they are much quieter and I like the flowmaster sound and price better.

So I decided that I am not satisfied with the exhaust now that I've seen it in daylight. 3 reasons.
1. It points up at my bumper.
2. chrome tip, very south of the border (i hate chrome)
3. pipe size.
I emailed the guy and he said the reason it's hard to do 2.5" is because of the bends to make it fit. But he said they'd do it. I'm waiting to see how much they plan on charging me for it.

Well I am very happy with my exhaust! I was not expecting much of an improvement in fuel economy and power but I am getting 1-3 mpg better economy and I can tell it has more power. I have no idea if the muffler had ever been replaced or not before but the Jeep has 264,000 miles on it. Last week I went up to Mt. Hood Meadows and got 15-16mpg driving nice, I went up last night and got 17 mpg and was driving alot harder and faster than the last time. Now I need to get the 6 exhaust leaks fixed in my other XJ.

This thread is awesome, how can the topic go from talking about a exhaust shop to talking about a dual stage rear wing? Anyways I want a dual stage wing as well to increase downforce when rock crawling, I just need to make sure I idle twords the wind as I am moving at 1/2mph.
