Disclaimer: I know NOTHING about Hummers or Coil overs

I would assume that the ride would be bone jarring stiff. Unless there is a way to make them softer, I would not do it.

Lets see a Hummer H1 weighs more than 10,000 lbs and your XJ weighs 3,500 lbs. You will have 0 deflection when you hit a bump and absolutely 0 flex.

Who do you think pays military members salary?:patriot:

On that note, did you know that even if your in the military, you still pay taxes.

On to the springs, use them if you want, but the fab work to install the springs wouldnt be worth the effort. The springs from a HMMWV are way wider then stock XJ springs, not to mention I dont think they are any longer so they wouldnt even provide any lift.

Yep....That stuff is supposed to go to DRMO...don't wind up in the brig over a set of very used springs.

Lol, I am in the Marines as well and I know exactally how DRMO runs are. I highly doubt that anyone would be upset if you used springs that are going to be just sitting in a pile collecting rust until some decides to move them again to another spot where they will just sit for another twenty years. 90% of DRMO runs end up in the trash anyhow, so what does it matter to you guys if the Marine picks through the trash? I'd rather see it being put to good use than be sitting around. I picked up a welder for free that had a NRFI tag on it and the onlything wrong was a blown diode. Complain all you want, but some people will never understand what happens inside the military and how we keep the USMC running because we swipe stuff off of a DRMO pile. I just call it over-time pay for the stuff I've found. Sorry if that hurts your feelings....

ya i know guys thanks for the advice it was just a thought anyhow to anyone that gotr a lil upset we me thinking about them springs realize i pay for all that stuff to and i even pay my own salary so its kinda like being self employed but working like an idiot everyone thanks for the advice and for the record i won't be doin it but if anyone wats to know where to get stuff legaly for the military i have the goverment drmo auctions website and will gladly give it to u cause they do auction some kmool stuff off on the like i could have baout like 6 pallets of hummer tires which come 8 to a pallet fopr like 50 bucks. but to the gentleman who said he wouldn't like the idea of paying for my lift i am sorry that i had such an idea but think of it this way when i do do buy a lift legal from a vendor u'll be helping me buy it anyway so to everyone that pays ur taxes thank u and thanks again to everyone who supports the war i will be goin over soon anyway so when i get bak my jeep will be lifted for sure ok thanx everyone

Common man, please just use a bit of grammer and punctuation. I know there is a spelling MCI out there. And by the way, don't feel bad about that DRMO crap; unless it has an ID tag on it, no one will miss it.

ditto with army crap. i dont know how much stuff we've found to use that other folks have thrown away. in my last unit thats how we got all our toolboxes and office furniture. other people would DRMO em, and we'd pick em up, refurbish, demolish, and rebuild using pieces parts. its an interesting prospect, but it saves having to wait for 6 months for stuff. DRMO is cool every once in awhile cuz you get cool stuff. i've had friends get winches, tires, you name it from DRMO.

Yeah!! SEE! At least there are three of us that understand how the military is run. All that political crap that takes months and year's to get the stupidest things can be left alone for all I care. We fix everything that we have by ourselves, screw S-4, those guys are worthless! Its funny to think that we use "trash" to make the presidents helicopters fly....hahaha!

i'm a hawk mech/crewchief.......and believe me i understand also....however our turboshafts are prolly a lil easier to remove than yours;)

and you wouldnt believe the stuff we come up with (or get the local machine shop to fab) to get into some of the nooks and crannys.

and i swear, the coolest tool ever is the SAFETY WIRE GUN

53guy

we can get our QCU out and a new one in in under 3 hours. It's not that hard, just time consuming waiting on other shops to finish their work.

August 10th, 2006, 16:53
it's amazing the stuff our gvt throws away...auctions... because it's too expensive to repair, recycle due to their own internal working costing too much.

on a good day providing the bird doesnt wanna be a bitch....i can get an engine pulled in about 45 minutes providing i have no hang ups and i'm not waiting on a hoist or for someone to quit using one of my tools.

putting it in takes a little more time because things will never line back up the way you want em to, and something is invariably gonna be stubborn.

Its all gay like that because of buerocratic BS and to keep people like i personally dont want my tax dollars paying for your lift. but thats just me

happy. I don't agree with the way things are done, but its the way it has to be done. The process is way way way too long.

Dude! Swinging with the wing rocks! The airwing is the only place that you can work 19 hour days and show up to work the next morning and have accomplished absolutely nothing! I cant think of anything I'd rather do than turf down a canyon, shoot guns off the ramp, sling a 155mm below me, drop it off and then do a med-vac in the same day. We get a lot done, have nothing to show for it other than a bunch of pissed off liberals, a few scars and a bunch of flags draped over our buddies coffins, and then still find it ironically funny as we go home at the end of the day. I'd just hate to be a grunt. I love the USMC wing.

yep i feel the same way, cept we only get 240 hotels, and i'm in the designated medevac. i love the 20 hour work days to get an aircraft up, only to have some dumbass pilot break it first thing the next morning trying to be funny.
