No oil pressure at idle

Bone stock '99 4.0 was running fine until this morning. I'm at a light and the oil pressure tanks. I accelerate from the light and the oil pressure goes back up to normal. Every time the RPMs drop below 1500, the oil pressure hits zero... at 2k, I've got normal pressure.

No knocking, no overheating, no smoke, no oil leaking. :huh:

Any ideas?

Mine was doing the same think. Change the sending unit and problem solved.

That's what I was hoping to hear. I just don't understand how the engine RPMs are effecting the gauge.

yeah I would start with the sending unit cheapest and most common to take a crap!

most likely your sender. the factory gauge also isn't very accurate. more like a idiot light with a needle.

at idle (600ish rpm) it should be 13psi+
at 1,600rpm and up it should be between 37-75psi

i would look into changing the sending unit.
