I am a new member do plz be patient with me. So I have a 91 xj with 262k miles on it. Manual, 4 liter. I recently put a rocky-road 4 inch lift on it, old man emu set up. There was a transfer case drop with it, when i droped the transfer case down the 4 wheel drive pin came out. it seems like the bracket, that is attached to the transfercase, is not aligned up with the transfercase that it is attached to. could this of been bent? How? what do i need to get it working again?

I beleive what your talking about is part of the linkage that engages 4x4 if so you can try to pop it back into the hole from whence it came. the linkage does a funny z type configuration from the 4x4 handle in the cab to the selector on the transfer case with the hinge point being a bar that spans from the tranny tunnel to the tranny. you may need to adjust the shift linkage after the t-case drop if it is popping out of 4x4 or not staying in 2hi. Pics are very helpfull if your not sure of the correct names for things.

good luck

I'd say that when you dropped the Tcase that you didn't drop the linkage bracket thats attached to the tranny tunnel... therefor you have a goofy angle on that 'pin'

i am not allowed to post pics. So the tranny tunnel is in line with the 4 wheel drive linkage but there is a baracket that is in between them which the hole is about 5/8 of an inch to low

So use a hosting account - either Photobucket or your internet provider, etc...then post the images with tags.

I don't recall any specific linkage problems with my t-case drop, and it's also on a '96...of course it's also gone now so no comparison shots.

Dang. Why so far outta whack? How are your motor and tranny mounts faring?

I will have to check those out. Read some post on them and sounds like the tranny mounts should be gone.Oops. thanks for the help!!

I reaplaced the motor and tranny mounts and they were in bad shape but still not the problem. i do not think that they were the reason the linakge is out of wack ,, anything else?

I would take it that no one has bent that bracket.

Would anyone happen to have a picture of what a 4wd linkage would look like I will just have to see if i can bend it back?
