View Full Version : Inca Inn - Special NAXJA Rates!
Vince
December 5th, 2007, 12:53
I just received an email from Markus confirming special NAXJA room rates for the Fall Fling. Offer is for bookings received before January 31st 2008.
Hi Vincent
Great to hear/read from you!... <snip>
...I remember that we talked about your club and event in October and I would like to answer your questions as follows:
- Yes, we are able to take bookings at our official motel reservations email
address: reservations@incainn.com . Since we have no direct access to the booking system we have to communicate and check with the current owners.
This might take a few days.
- At this time we have 22 rooms available from October 5th to 11th. We will also have rooms available before and after those dates, but would have to verify with exact dates. Since the first week of October is usually a very busy week and rooms will start to fill up soon, we will be able to hold the rooms until December 31st. After this date we will start to give away the rooms upon incoming requests.
- The regular rate at this time is $59.95 plus tax. AAA-Rate would be $54.95 plus tax. For definite bookings before January 31st 2008 we can offer a special rate for the NAXJA-members of $49.95 plus tax. The rate includes one room with one King or two Queen beds, two people and expanded continental breakfast. Each additional adult in the same room is $6 per night plus tax (children under 12 are $3).
- We would prefer to accept bookings through our Reservation-Form on the
website: http://www.incainn.com/ and NAXJA members shall please make a note in the comment. We also could accept a group reservation but would have to apply a 30-day cancellation policy with valid credit card information to charge in case of late cancellations.
We would be very happy not only to host some of the NAXJA members but also to meet you again in October. Whether I will be able to run one trail or not, I can not tell at this time.
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Daniela & Markus Heimgartner

I've only been living in Switzerland since August and I buy freshly made Swiss bread almost every day here. It really does taste good. I better warn Markus ahead of time that I'm likely to consume a lot.

Thanks for the PM Vince!
I just made my reservation for October 5-11.
That continental breakfast looks 100x better than the one at the Bowen Motel. :)
And just to let everyone know, the Inca Inn is directly adjacent to the La Hacienda restaurant, which many consider to be the best Mexican place in Moab. And the motel is just over a mile from the headquarters at Slickrock Campground.

And it's close enough to stumble back from some of the other bars in town.

I received and email last night from Markus and Daniela. They have improved their NAXJA offer for anyone that wants to stay longer than the 11th.
"we will only apply the regular rate for the nights before October 5th. For people staying longer than October 11th we will apply also the discounted NAXJA rate."

It sounds like good company, I am thinking about changing my reservation.
Is there anyplace to cook a simple meal there? It would just be a single burner Coleman stove. Do any of the rooms have kitchenettes? I usually don't eat out more than a few times in a week at Moab because it adds up quick.

- we'll see if there's any room left at the inn (maybe they have a manger!)
I'll admit it - I'm getting too old to sleep on the dirt at Slickrock. At least Inca's close enough to still enjoy the after trail "refreshments" and fires.

Sure, and I suspect that the 2,3,4, . . . . ones are on me, right?
No matter, my USAF buddy. As usual, I'll be transporting a few cases of some good german brew that only makes it a few miles past East Coast ports. More room now that the camping gear is being left behind.

Just an FYI... the reservation form on their website is NOT SECURE. I would highly suggest not putting your CC info in their. Markus said they would be available to take CC info by phone after 1/21. Just put the best time to call you in the comment section and leave the CC info blank.

There's a good view of that area in the photo gallery section of the website (when they take a pic from behind the motel) - hopefully that's a part of their property (or one we're allowed to use) - doesn't look like any room in the main lot.
(Either that, or maybe some "friendly" Moab NAXJA member wants to lease out his yard for a week???)

Wow - a whole 11 hours? Think you can hold up? :looney:
After a half dozen trips or so West - and an average of 35 driving hours each way - my poor little XJ has paid its dues and earned a ride on the trailer behind it's V8-ZJ big brother.

I think I would me more scared of the ride behind a ZJ. Tried that once and it scared the crap out of me. Not really the best tow rig out there.

OK - I'm listening. My 5.2 with a Class IV hitch is rated at 6500. I have a nice 1200 lb dual axle, electric brake flatbed trailer available and I figured "what the heck"??!!!
. . . . the total package will be within tolerances and if I'm REAL careful coming down out of Eisenhower tunnel . . . .
I tow a boat and have a CDL-A, so driving a combo doesn't bother me, but I will admit that this will be the first time I was planning to spoil the XJ and not drive it to Utah - what am I missing? :dunno:

Nothing, you'll be fine. You have brakes on the trailer, and your XJ is likely much lighter than many of us who have a bunch of bigger axles and body armor.

If you feel comfortable doing it...go for it.
I had a ZJ. Tried towing my jeep and it scared the hell out of me. I also have a Class A CDL.
Once you said that I felt a little better about it. Obviously you know more then most about weight distribution and what not. Still though...thats a big load for a little tow rig.

Jeez, Richard - she's put on a few pounds (as have I) since my first (stock) Fall Fling excursion in 2000! You're telling me you never noticed over the years??? I'm not sure if there's a put-down in there on Jersey wheeling or not! :bawl:
And remember, I have a Turner-special front bumper - and Utah steel is very, very dense! (or, was it the fabricator who is very, very dense - can't remember). Then again, my skids and rockrails are not built of 3/4" steel plate like yours, and my 44 is just a toothpick compared to those on the Goatzilla - maybe you're right.
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. I understood the Dr's concern about the ZJ pulling plan, and am still a bit skeptical about it. But, I see that V-8 sitting out there in the driveway and would sure like to justify it's gas guzzling appetite. And receive all those admiring glances from passing traffic as I head West with the "sorta-big" red XJ perched up on the flatbed!!! :D
Looking forward to it.

OK, I just e-mailed Markus to cancel the week I had reserved before the Fling ( we're going to Sedona that week instead ), and asked him about the parking. He said that there is one spot per room, and we would need to make our own arrangements for additional parking.
I still don't know whether I'll be towing my 92, towing Cindy's, driving Cindy's, or driving my 94, but I would like to have all options open. Can we park at Slickrock, perhaps for a small fee? Or in one of our local member's yards?

Has anyone found anywhere else to park tow rigs and trailers? My junk is streetable so I just don't want the truck and trailer to get molested while I'm away from it.
