slow idle

I have a 89 that doesn't die BUT just idles too slow.Is this set by the TPS
and can it be ajusted? I'm a old lurker but first post so be gentle HA!!!

there is a yellow box under the driver side dash, this is the ECM there should be a idle speed screw in there. you can also adjust the tps. all you have to do is loosen the 2 screws that hold that tight and index it as far as you want, but be careful those screw break very easily. set it to around 800-1000 rpms. at that point, depending on your motor/trans combo and if you are mostly stock you are getting a little bit closer to the power band off idle

I think the yellow box is cruise control.

More likely the IAC is either defective or needs to be cleaned along with the throttle body cavity it screws to. If the orifice gets plugged, no matter how much the IAC tries, it will only idle so high.
