I'll put this in the mod section because technically this muffler is not a direct bolt in....this is for those that are looking for a good cheap alternative to the stock super turbo...
I bought this dynomax a couple years ago the only difference is I bought one for a yj.It was $35.00 instead of the $70 they want for the xj one.Had to use a couple of adapters to get it to work but they only cost me like $6.So I saved like $29 and its the same muffler only for a 4.0 wrangler....Don't ask me why its cheaper than the xj application, but it is!!Anyone care to guess why?I'm a little curious.....

The part # is 17731

It sounds good at idle up to 2000rpm and wont drone you out on the highway like a flomaster...

here is a bit more detail....

complete with flow chart and specs.
wrangler application

and the cherokee application:

upon further inspection looks like this mod isn't really worthwhile if you order a muffler online from the above links because the price spread between the two at jegs is only a few dollars. Its worth it if you go to your local advance store and buy the yj application for around $35.00 and then you dont have to pay shipping.

Like I said the only thing needed is an adapter for the inlet and another one for the outlet to make up for the length differences and also to adapt the inlet size differences .The yj application is(I think) 6" shorter than the xj application....the adapters bridge this gap.The offsets are different but you turn the yj one around and run it backwards(dynomax specifies that they can be installed either way)
I forgot that last important detail in my initial post.....it was a while ago that I did this so I forgot.
