Ok, I've been through thick and thin up to my neck in rear axle swaps
I want to do the yota 8" rear, I'll be pulling one out of a 4 Runner when I get the chance...

86-95 8" WMS = 58.5"
+96 Explorer 8.8" WMS = 59.5"

So per side, the 8.8 has a 1/2" of extra clearance between the perch and the backing plate...

Shitty pic but thats all I could find

I need measurements because every ninny says that the fn' leaf springs are going to be butted against the backing plates of the drums because it's too narrow. For you 8.8 guys, how much clearance do you guys have between the backing plate and the outside of the spring perch?

I honestly can't see 1/2" making THAT much of a difference

I realize that the WMS will have to be countered with wheel spacers but this will also bring me back to 5x4.5 and almost stock width

I will be using Sky Manufacturing disk brake conversion brackets, perhaps this will give me the clearance that I need?

Anyone got these measurements?

*edit
Sweet, found out the XJ is 46" perch to perch (outside to outside)
The yota rear being 58.5

approximately
XJ D35 7" from outside of perch to outside of drum
Yota 8" 6.25" from outside of perch to outside of drum

I think I should be able to work within these clearances...
