Any guys out there with an interest in the old ass civilian Jeeps. My grandpas brother recently passed away and left him an excellent condition resto 1944 Willy's CJ-2 AgriJeep. He's asked me to try and figure up a round ball park guestimate of its worth. Everything seems to be there and it's restored back to factory. It does need some serious cleaning and tuneup. I'll post pictures of it tomorrow afternoon maybe. I lost the pics of it in my computer crash a month ago. :/

Thanks

An Agri-Jeep is worth some bucks to a collector.

At last count i think 7 were known to exist of the roughly 50 made. What number is it? Does it have brass on the hood?

I have a few pics of the only restored agri-jeep from the gent in VA who restored it, sold for $50K to a collector who wrote a book on the rig. Fred Coldwell i think.

Love to see pics.. i always lusted for one.

DO you have any pics of the cj?

Now don't get me wrong. I know very little about this Jeep. It's green, old as hell, and has a PTO on the back... I was told it was a 44 AgriJeep. I'll get pics as soon as I can and I'm sure we'll all be disappointed. I'm sure the odds are crazy that I actually have one of these since IIRC it's doesn't look exactly like the one in the picture... We don't have the title so I'll need help identifiying...

Would be cool if it was...

1st things to look for. Military grill with recessed headlights, some JEEP marking (possibly brass plates) on hood sides or windshield frame, column shift (1st 2 were floor shift), and data tags on dash.

Get those pics up asap.

I will I'm fairly sure that the shifter is in the floor. How many came with the PTO on the back?

OK, if it's a floor shift it's either

A: a military WWII Jeep if in fact it's a 1944.
B: one of the first 2 Agri-Jeeps.... and if it is your relative hit the lottery if it's complete and original.
C: it's a late 45 or later CJ-2a...

Does it have recessed headlights? Tailgate?

Lots of 2a's came with a pto.

My bet is no lottery here. Prolly just a sweet ass CJ-2a , Still worth some $ to the right buyer though.

I'm sorry I haven't got pics yet... Its about 3 miles from here and it's dark everytime I get a chance to go over there. I was also told the only difference between it and the military jeep is it doesn't have the waterproof ignition system.

Lol I got all hyped up... now it's just gunna be a 1500 Jeep painted army green.

WWII era Jeeps (Ford GPW and Willy's MB) did not have the waterproof ignition... that appeared in 50 with the M38.

Get the damn pics already... :)

Sorry most of the pictures are blurry but it was getting dark.

CJ-2a with what looks like a M38 windshield frame that has had some brackets removed, homemade pass seat frame.

So hardly worth anything...? What a disappointment... :(

It needs a head. ANywhere I can find one and have it reworked? It keeps blowing head gaskets.

Might be worth a few grand, may consider keeping and cleaning her up vs selling it?

Maybe spaulman will see this thread and chime in... he's got a REAL nice restored 2a and could probably be of more help than i.

My old boss has NOS heads for the L-134 flathead. www.armyjeepparts.com or sales@armyjeepparts.com

Those front coilovers are funky, never saw that before.

The guy (Jim Grunke - pronounced grun-kee) that owns this place mostly deals with the big stuff but may have a line on parts for you. He may be hard to find - the last time I tried to call him he was in Borneo delivering some of his restored trucks to a mine. Pretty cool guy, I used to drill with him in the Navy Reserve. His yard is like a Army museum.

Thanks guys! Grandpa is never gunna let me get my hands on it anyways. Which is probably a good thing because I apparently have little respect for stock vehicles. It'd have a 350, 20 inchs of lift with rockwells and 52s in no time. He'd better keep it. I am very interested in finding an older small Jeep with a frame to base a buggy on, eventually.

WTF is a rooftent?

If you put it back together, lift it, put some decent axles under it, 350, and a nice tranny and Tcase - I'll buy it! I'll provide the drive shafts.

But Overall what kind of shape would say mine is in. I know it's dirty as hell but look beyond that. 1-10?

Doesnt look bad, but it's incorrect parts are what brings the value down. Could always replace with original parts though.

Pull it out of there, clean it up and take better pics.

This is a roof top tent...

Eh, He won't give it to me so it's not worth the effort! What if I just pulled the old head and had it surfaced and reinstalled with new gaskets?

That's awesome as hell! Not a good idea for me as I have a tendancy to Sleep walk every once in a while! I'd hate to fall 7 feet out of my bed.

Do something nice for Gramps and clean her up for him. Get it running and stopping well for him to enjoy... it may be worth your while later down the line.

How far are you from Gilbert?

About 70 miles. I was in batesburg-leesville about 2 weeks ago.

Maybe one day I'll try to clean it up and see whats wrong with it...
