Noisy power steering on 98 xj

So whenever I'm trying to get out of a parking spot and I crank the wheel at a full stop the steering wheel makes weird noises. I hope my power steering isn't going out. When I'm crancking the steering whines quite a bit. Still occurs at everyday driving but not as noticable due to other noises but does this mean that my steering is dying or do Jeeps just have noisy steering?

I would keep an eye on it. When it starts sounding like it is grinding, then its time to replace.

check your fluid level.

im not trying to be a smart-ass. its just that sometimes we forget to check the most simple things because we fear a worse problem.

Sometimes a p/s fluid flush will quiet it down for a while but in my oppinion it's just a bandaid for a wound that needs stitches.
