searched......should i use fixed lca's and adjustable uca's for a 4.5" lift on an xj or is it the other way around.

Typcially adjustable lower arms deal with fixing wheel base length ssues, and adjustable uppers deal with fixing caster issues. At your height, I'd just go with adjustable uppers...

why not adjustable both?

thats what i did. works great. i got the superflex ones from RE. they have that nice superflex joint on all the arms. Adjustable lowers will also help with the tire rubbing the back of the fender on compression= pusshes the axle forward to eliminate it. plus, you can always change it to the way you like your caster and pinion angle.
