on friday i put in my tow hook kit and of course the front bumper comes off for that, so in the process of it sitting on cardboard and working on it i scratched up the front of the 'bumperettes' what can i do to 'restore' these, fine sandpaper? or what, i kno it wont be perfect im just looking for better.

How badly scratched? If only a little, you can use some polishing compound and then wax them. If you want to repaint, use adhesion promoter for plastic bumper covers and then paint them. The local body shop supply store will mix color matched automotive enamel and can put into standard rattle cans if you don't have a spray gun. Or try - www.paintscratch.com - but they are a bit expensive.

i dont have a 'classic' with the body color flares and bumper, ive got a sport with the textured charcol grey plastics, would a little buffing compound still help? anybody else?

might try running a lighter under them. Don't melt them, just heat the bad spots up and see if the 'loose' parts burn off and kinda blend back together. Don't get too close or you'll screw them up worse.
