non winch bumper question??

i have a regular 2" x 4" square bumper, am now wanting a winch without going out and buying a new bumper. was wondering if this will work with my bumper.. thanks for the help. -Matt

Nope, you'll ruin your front bumper and might pull the frame mounts apart / warp your frame trying a side pull.

best bet for stock bumper / cheap winch mounting.
Also, consider a front-side tow hitch rated as high as your bumper and a multi-mount plate for the winch. That way you can put it in either end.

Hes not talking about a stock bumper.
 
The winch plate you posted is for a wrangler where the frame rails stick out in front of the grill. I guess if your bumper sticks out far enough to mount on top of it you could go that route but you would still have to figure out how to attach the 8in wide winch to a 2in wide bumper. Sounds kinda scary to me. I think it would be better to modify your current setup to mimic a winch bumper from (insert favorite manufacturer here).

im just curious how to make it work. would i need to get like a 1/4" plate and weld on top of my current bumper to make a mount then put the winch mount on top of that? please any input is welcome.
