This will blow your mind, seriously.
It takes two hours to watch, but is well worth it. You may not agree with what it is saying but damn it makes A LOT of sense, its actually kinda scary. Covers everything from religion to government. Take the time, it will probably change the way you look at things. I know it did for me.

you gotta be really careful taking all that stuff to heart, a lot of it is sifted through and bits and parts are taken from actual fact just to make it fit what they're trying to say. I've had several classes where we've been taught to do this ourselves and it's ridiculous the kinds of things you can "make" people say, just by taking something they say and then taking little parts of it and putting it in where you want.
btw I'm not trying to pick any form of cyber fight or anything. ha ha ha.
just stating an opinion.

They take the first 10 minutes to show some pretty cool explosions mixed with stupid music and some random computer generated moving things. That almost made me stop watching.
When they are talking about Horus, they show how his life is basically what we were taught as Jesus. Born on the 25th of December, can walk on water(which I thought was Moses), buried and then resurrected, etc. From what little I can remember of my 6th grade history lesson of Egypt and their gods, I dont recall any of this relating to Horus. A quick google search found nothing about Horus's birthday or his apparent "gifts".

Again, they talk about Attis, a Greek mythological figure. He too was supposed to have been born to a virgin, crucified and raised from the dead.
He was born by a virgin, but apparently he went mad and cut off his genitals and turned into a pine tree. There is no mention of him being resurrected.
Im going to stop there for now, and Im only 15 minutes into it. I think that they are going to take a couple facts and twist them into a story showing you what they want to show you. Its similar to the 9-11 is a hoax people. The videos they have make it seem like it was really a hoax, but then you see other videos and all their "facts" turn out to be the truth, twisted and turned until is suits their needs.
I do agree that religion is one who big made up story. Personally I dont believe like the Zeitgeistists said, that there is some guy floating in the clouds watching over me.
But, religion can be a good thing. It helps people get through tough times, gives them a purpose in life, and most religions give back to the community. Who am I to tell people that there is in fact no god, so they need to stop worshiping him. They have just as much a right to worship as I do to not.

"Given sufficient evidence, a Board of Inquiry can prove anything."
Jesus walked on water, Moses parted the Red Sea.
And, with all the "information" out there, the first quote definitely applies. Take one "fact" (I have a difficult time calling anything religious or quasi-religious "factual" - since it's always supposed to be "taken on faith" - the opposite of factual...) throw in a batch of fluff, stir briskly, and you can get pretty much anything you like as well.
George Carlin once said, "Religion is like a lift in your shoe. If you need it for a while and it helps you walk straight, that's what it's for. But who needs lifts forever? And please, for God's sake, let's not go nailing lifts onto the natives' feet..."
If religion can help you through a tough time, good. "Religion" can be loosely defined as "faith in something greater than yourself" - whether that "something" is a relationship, a marriage, the Human condition, society at large, or whatever - it's something that can help you. Where most people would turn toward faith in (a) god, I tend to turn toward my marriage - which, against all odds, has lasted the last ten years with no sign of slowing.
(Yes, I did not capitalise the word "god" on purpose. In that case, I wasn't using it as the proper noun for the Judeo-Christian God, but as the agreed-upon word-symbol for a deity - or a metaphysical being outside our experience, perception, and knowledge. Take your pick.)
I've always categorised myself more as a "mild-mannered agnostic" than anything else. I've been told it's vacillatory, but I've not seen anything I'd consider proof either way - so I've not formed an opinion (I'm one of those odd people that needs information to form a cogent opinion. I'm not about to just create one from whole cloth.)
Therefore, my views on religion and faith are simple - believe what you like, and leave me out of it. I've never responded well to people who preach to me, of whatever sort.
When I'm in someone else's home, I'll respect their observations (my son's in-laws are Christian Orthodox - I've no trouble with saying grace over family dinners - that's observation, not proselytizing.) And, when they come over, they can understand that we don't say Grace over our food - but we'll not stop them if they want to bless their own plates before they tuck in. Lifelong Christians are so much easier to deal with than "Born Again" or "Saved" Christians, y'ask me. Not so much hypocrisy, nowhere near as much preaching.
One funny bit I recall on the Bible was actually in the show Red Dwarf - they'd found another page of the Dead Sea Scrolls. "If authentic, it belongs at the beginning. Translation shows that it reads, 'To my darling Katherine. All persons and events in this work are make-believe, and any relation to real persons or events are purely coincidental.'"
Amazing, isn't it, what can come out when one proposes a new Weltanschauung, no?
