I had an absolute blast. I will definitely be doing this again. Lots of stuff left to see down there. This was the first "Jeep trip" that I shamed my wife into attending, and she had a good time. I've been trying to get here to go with me for a long time, and I finally succeeded. That was the best part of the whole trip for me. I also learned that I like fried pickles. Thanks for the memories guys, lets do it again sometime.

My wife and I took another couple with us, Darren and Lisa. Darren and I are friends from way back. D was my best man. We all stayed at Sassafras Ridge B&B. Nice place. We watched the deer as we ate breakfast Sunday morning. Frances was the lady that ran the place.

Looks like a great time! Where exactly is Shawnee NF?
Slade, KY would also be a good choice for this type of run (future reference ;) )

On Sunday, Amanda and I headed down to Cairo, Illinois to go to Illinois’ most Southern point…..right at the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. There’s a nice park located right there.
http://myxj.net/g2/d/110330-1/IMG_0392.JPG
Here’s a picture from the top of the lookout tower they built there. There was also a sun dial and some plaques about the area.

Here you can see the ripples in the water where the two rivers meet. It’s amazing how fast they were both moving.

When we left here, we took the backroads back to Carbondale though Shawnee again before heading home.
