So I'm driving down the interstate the other day at about 65mph (I think, speedo does not work.), I happen to know there's a "State-ey" up ahead, I see a car cranking along in the passing lane, so I touched my brake pedal, figure he might slow down cause of the brake lights. Funny thing though, when I hit the pedal my RPM's went up (tach not working either) to the point I could hear the eng. race up.
I tried this a few more times, only does it under load or at a cruising speed, not with foot off accelerator.
Anyone else experience this?

if it is an auto, tapping the brake should knock it out of lock-up

Yup. The tranny computer has a switch on the brake pedal so it knows to unlock the torque converter when you hit the brakes. You just replicated the usual test to see if this switch is working.
