A/C Compressor and Electric Fan

My A/C compressor was making my belt squeal when I would turn it on. Then I parked it for 3 months for some work. When I got back in to start driving it again, the A/C compressor would not kick on. To compound the problem, the Aux fan never kicked on and I overhearted on the trail. I can straight wire the fan and it comes on, but for some reason, it won't work otherwise. Is it a coincidence that the A/C stopped working at the same time?

Are they linked to a common circut? I thought maybe my A/C may need charging / lubing, but that would not keep the fan from coming on when it got warm enough right?

Any ideas?
