They came over yesterday and helped welded my raised shock mounts on the rear axle. It looks damn sexy and a huge difference from the factory rockstoppers.

Now I think I need new rear shocks. the rear passenger shock is shot and leaking but I have 3" of uptravel till my bumpstops hit but I have only 2 1/4" uptravel on the shock.

I wanted to buy front shocks first but thats gonna have to wait cuz as soon as I load up the XJ for goatfest, its gonna bottom out pretty bad.

Sweet deal!

What shocks you going to run?

well, I always get hung up on that decision. My current shock length when sitting level is 16 3/4":

1. 8" 5150s at $89 each or
2. 10" SB 7100s at $169 or so

they both have the same compressed length at 14.03" but the 7100's will require the BPEs (add 3/4") with the heim spacers thus more money and giving me less up travel vs the 5150s without BPEs

On the other hand 8" 5150s wont have very much travel but they do have the rubber ends being quieter.

I do plan on 7100s on the front but wont happen for a while since I'm on a budget.

anyone have an opinion?

Josh

Have you measured your actual lift (from top of axle tube to frame rail)?

What is the shock length now at static height?

Length at full compression?

I'll be going through this in a couple of months, too.

and just to clarify in case anyone tries to use the same measurements for shocks...I'm using the ruffstuff double shear shock mounts. These basically put the shock eye about the middle of the axle tube. Not 1-2" below the center of the tube like most bracket kits.

What, no pictures of your sexy rear end?

And I didn't do much. I was just hanging out watching Kyung do all the work.

Why do I not have a hard time believing you when you say you were just watching?........SANTA

What's the stock number on those mounts?

I was just there because someone said "lunch".

At least I'm honest and don't pretend to be working when I'm not. I just like hanging around the area where work is being done.
