Swapping carriers back and forth

Ive got a 95 yj (also have a xj, dont flog me) with a dana 30 disco front axle. It currently has an open carrier with 4.10's. I would like to be able to put in my other welded carrier and just swap the ring gear back and forth when i go between the open carrier and welded one. Is there a problem with this if i get them both set up for my axle? I would be putting in the cable engage/ disengage system for the disco at the same time (permanent).

Why not just buy a locker?

aren't ring and pinions matched to each other?

you would need to keep track of the spacers on each side for the preload.

all that aside, just put in a lunchbox locker, or LSD

Why not just buy a Rubicon? money...

the install kit is 45 bucks and this way i have a selectable locker for mud. Then when im doing a lot of street driving i can switch back to the open carrier so my front driveshaft isn't vibrating to death. I guess the question is can i get both carriers set up close enough to the same that the r and p wont prematurely wear out?
