differences in stock aux. electric fan

Is the stock electric fan in 97-01 models really that much more efficient/powerfull than the 96 and earlier models? Has anybody swapped the newer style in place of the older style?

The oldest ones had square blades. The newer ones had 8 S blades......and the newest had 10 S blades. It's a direct swap.

I have both 8 and 10 blade S fans I am looking to sell.

There is not as much amperage draw but we are talking in tenths of amps difference. Supposedly the the s-blade design moves more air but I did not have a way to check it.

I noticed the fan in my 96 ( S blade) was a whole lot quieter than the fan was in my 88 and did seem to move more air.
I swapped over to the later model in my 88, after the fan in my 88 ate a bearing and started to squeal.
I used a junk yard replacement, cost me $15.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the newer models use a different connector...you would have to do a little splicing....no biggie though.

The 97+ 10 Blade fans do, however the 94-96 8 blade ones use the same connector.
