Torque converter shudder?

Ok. Specs of jeep first: 1985 w/ 3.4L, TF909 transmission, NP207.

Transmission rebuilt with a NEW torque converter in May of this year (2007).

Recently, I noticed that in 1st and 2nd, no vibrations. When it goes into 3rd before the lock-up kick in, no vibration. But when the L/U kicks in, it vibrates then slowly smoothes out at 50+

I took it to the local transmission guy and he said check drive line for bad u-joints, rear pinion for tightness, TC output shaft for tightness and then compression on all the cylinders of the engine to make sure ther isn't a dead cylinder.

Ugh. Will do all that but am wonder if anyone has experienced the shudder when their torque converter went bad?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks in advance.
