Sorry I don't know how to photoshop. You are right though, it's sitting in my shop on jack stands with the mogs next to it along with all of my other projects. You nailed it. I have been weighing my options here lately trying to deceide what to do with it. The 404 mogs are going to be a bitch...I'm going to have to narrow them, stretch my wheel base because of the pinion length, and deal with the weight issue. Plus the fact they have an outrageous gear ratio and I would still like to street drive it. I know portals are going under my cherokee, Period! I just don't know what kind yet. I've already done a pinion and disk brake conversion on my mogs but I think It will turn out nicer if I just sell them now and buy a set of ford 9" unimog 416 portal hybrids or some complete customs from www.portaltek.com (http://www.portaltek.com). Either option is going to run me about $8500 which isn't that big of a thing...I just want to get rid of my mogs first so I don't have $16,000 worth of axles sitting next to my jeep at one time. I need to work on it but haven't had time due lately in most part to the record power demands at the plant...I plan on having it finished by next spring though and I'll start a build thread when I get further along. Thanks for depressing me guys...

I don't like volvos they're not nearly as strong as the mogs are...I wheel my shit to hard or atleast I used too. Another reason I was shying away from both of them and going with a set of hybrids of complete customs is parts availability. Mogs are hard enough to find parts for let alone volvos they're even worse.

I saw a buildup on Pirate a few months back and they were using Volvos in a comp rig on 40" tires... I questioned them because I had heard Volvos were good for maybe 37" max but they said there are some new aftermarket items for them that make them much stronger... it would be worth looking into...
