242 on a BA10

Yes youll need a 242 from a 87 to 90 XJ or MJ. You might need to swap front axles im not to sure

if you have the 231 in it now and are replacing with 242, yes you will need one from 87-90. if you had the 231, you will need to modify the front axle because it has the vacuum disconnect.

mine was originally a auto with 242. I swaped the BA10 out of my parts jeep and kept my 242. my jeep is a 88 and my parts jeep was a 87 with BA10/231 You will need to swap to a non disco axle or install one of these http://www.performanceoffroadcenter.com/oscommerce/index.php?manufacturers_id=78
