When I still had my 88 mj with the pukeout 5 speed that went out (again) AMC salvage had 16 NIB BA 5/10s from the Renault retreat from the U.S. market and they wanted $1600 ea (I didn't know about the AX 15 option).
I called a trans shop who quoted 1400 for it installed including the purchase of the trans from AMC salvage (after I told them they had them). I wonder what AMC's retail mark up was if the shop could make money on the job after charging me $200 less than they wanted for the part including a new clutch?

Hmmm... I didn't know they were so bad with prices. I called them last month for a set of axels, a HP D30 non vac. and a 8.25 29sp, both with OEM 4.10's and the dude on the phone... wayne I think... said $300 for both.

They are the reason there is a 9" in the rear of my jeep... I got both the 9" and a HP44 for 350.00 in the form of a 75 ford f150 short bed 4x4... Luckily for me I stashed 2 more f150 HP44's up at my dads house in Wash...
