I've got my 94 XJ up for sale and interest has been less than Exciting.

Is a person better off to part out a rig than try to sell it as a whole.

Shipping and stuff is really a PITA but ?????????????????????.

General consensus appears to be you get more money parting it out!

I dunno. $4k seems reasonable enough for what you've got on the rig.

It's possible that the personal touches on it (stickers and whatnot) might be keeping folks from envisioning it as their future rig. I'd do new pics for any ads you have outside of NAXJA and remove the stickers and personalized lic. plates.

To me, the way-wrong offset wheels are a turn off too. That's just me. But the rig itself seems decent for the money.

You probably also put too much discussion about the price, and what you're willing to consider for it, not being desperate.... all that makes me think that if I were to try to talk to you about it, you'd end up trying to convince me I was getting a gold nugget for the price of a river rock....... Keep it simple, let folks bring you offers, kindly decline them if it doesn't meet your needs.

My .02 anyway.

Man, I thought those were the best part!! 3.75" backspacing!!

Thanks for the input. Yea, all the personal stuff has to go away eventually, guess I'll do it and shoot some other pix.

As we have talked about already, parting out is the most lucrative. I think this is true becouse most people want to build there own rig and not buy one already done. Not everyone can afford 4k off the bat but can squeeze it out over a year or two.

Yea, and you are making good points, just thought I'd get a feel for what other folks thought about the situation.

Lucrative for who?

I have been going round and round about this too and although I think I could get more in parts then selling the whole jeep I came to the decision that its worth taking a small hit to not have to deal with a junk jeep sitting around the yard.

Not to mention the wait to get it all sold and then usually you have a shell left you have to get rid of.

I think if it were me, I would do what Troy suggested and if that doesn't work maybe drop the price to 3750. You would only loose 250 bucks and mind game of seeing something for $3XXX instead of 4XXX is huge.

My wife would not be a happy camper with a carcass laying around trying to get rid of pieces off of it. My neighbors would be real excited also!!

As always, the good DR gives good advice!!

I would not part it out even if it is worth more that way. I would imagine the market for XJ parts is limited compared to that of Wranglers and who the heck wants to deal with shipping which will lower your profit margin? I remember shipping a set of leaf springs,.. what a PIA that was. If you don't have locals to pick the stuff up you could be looking at quite a bit of added personal time and labor.

I agree with the other comments. Depersonalize it by removing the stickers and lower the price until you get a bite and be willing to negotiate. You have to remember that your market is limited so if you really want to get rid of it you need to be willing to negotiate. Most potential buyers have no clue what you've invested in it and quite frankly don't care which is a hard concept to accept. All they see is an unusual 13 year old Jeep with 185,000 miles on it. Sorry to be so hard about it but that's reality.

All valid points. I'd just as soon not have to deal with all the headaches!!
