I got hooked up to the internet a few hours ago at our temporary apartment here in Switzerland. We have a great view of the Alps to the south and of the Zurich lake from the top of our hill. There are not many XJ's here as everyone drives new cars or cars less than six years old due to local laws.
Last week I found a small store in Zug that had 12 cans of Mountain Dew for sale. I bought a can and sat down by the lake to drink it. It's amazing how the taste and smell of something can bring back happy memories. Rachel says I should go back and buy the rest of them before someone else does.
I have been having a hard time settling in. I don't speak or read Swiss-German and everything is a challenge at the moment. I'm really missing my Jeep. I only got it road legal again 2-days before leaving and it's now locked up in a garage in England for the time being.
We sold our WJ V8 before moving and used the cash on a down payment for a lease on a new Swiss Jeep. We now have a 2.8CRD auto 4-door Wrangler and I've cheered up a bit. We seem to be managing fine with just one vehicle as Rachel only has a 15 minute train ride to work. I'm finally behind the wheel of a left hand drive Jeep!
There are only 200 JK's in Switzerland with no more arriving until June 2008. Our Jeep is rarer than Ferraris in this place and it seems to be attracting some attention. It's a pity mods are illegal here as the poor thing is desperate for a 3" lift and some decent tyres. I will post some pics over the weekend when I get the time. Glad you are all still here.
