Squeeling Noise- A/c compressor

Hi guys;

i have a squealing noise on when i start my Jeep from cold start.The noise is a loud screech and increases as you rev the engine.But the noise goes away as soon as the engine is warm.On a hot start it never squeals.I thought it was the serpentine belt and tried tightening it.The noise got louder so i backed off on the belt tension.The noise seems to be comming form the compressor unit zone.The noise is severe when i start the vehicle with the a/c switch on on position.When everything is warm; i do not hear the squeal

any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Mine does the same thing on occassion. Ive never bothered to try and fix it though. Actually I test drove 2 other xj's before buying mine and they both did it also. Perhaps its a common thing.

Sounds symptomatic of a failing AC Clutch.....

Mine does the exact same thing maybe i should check out the AC Clutch!

Exact same symptoms. It started after a long trip using the A/C.

What's the solution?
Keep it like this until it dies?

My 96 does the same thing.
Replaced the idler pulley, adjusted belt, no help.
There's gotta be a solution.....?
