np242 input shaft sources.

I can get a np242 for a decent price, from a 1989 xj (21spline) but i have a 94 (23 spline?) so the input will be different right? anyway would it be worth getting this transfer case and then buying an input shaft or no?

I guess i would just sell it if i can't use it

also if i can get a np242 from a ZJ which years and do I need to worry about spline counts and stuff like that?
