Did they use silicon on the front differential gasket?

Just wondering if anyone knew if Jeep used any silicon on the Dana 30 gasket from the factory. Had my Jeep for a year and never was sure if they previous owners ever did the differential case oil change. I changed my front axle over the weekend and someone had used a grey color silicon. Wasn't sure if that was done at the factory.

I just use RTV. Get both surfaces clean, let it set up for about 15 minutes, and seal it up. I dont mess around with gaskets on diffs anymore, RTV is much easier to deal with, IMO.

As far as the factory using sealant, probably not.

The factory used RTV on my 01 XJ front and rear.

i just got done doing the diff. fluid change a couple days ago on my d30. it had a gasket on it and it was a pain in the *** to get off. i have always used rtv on mine with no problems
