Spend $$$ re-arching the packs you have...

...Spend $$$ on BOR 8" springs (probably the smartest choice over-all, but requires committment to spending the dough)...

...Spend time/effort/materials dropping the front spring mount like Billavista did, and add a leaf from an MJ pack to make up the difference by stiffening the spring rate...which is welcome due to the ride height increase (this is what I would probably have to do, based upon lack of $$$, offset by fab skills, and a shop to fab in)

Best,
Bob

What ever happen to that frame rail, relocation mod. That should give you at least two - three inches? :)

Why so big? I am running 38s with 7-8" of lift and everything seems to fit fine. Without running swaybars, you'd be better served giving me those front spacers and keeping it at 8" (my front is about 1" lower than my rear)

The worst thing I ever did to my Cherokee was to go from 6" to 9" of lift. Yeah, it looks "real" cool now, but doesn't wheel like it used to by a long shot! Your best bet is to find a way to fit 35" tires on about 6 or 7 inches of lift. I used to "walk" right up bump dump in Moab with open diffs and 6" lift, now I don't even come close with my 9" lift and locked f+r. But, I look DAMN good trying!!!

I'll second that. And for proof, pull out your Petersen's with the BOW2 in it. Check out the smooth stylings of Andy Couch & his 33" tires wheeling with the big boys on all the hardcore stuff. Size doesn't matter boys, sorry to say it but it's all about how you use what you got. :D

Gee, was I even talking to you little boy?
I was merely pointing out the fact that on dump bump(and Mikeys Hot Tub for that matter) less lift will always work better than more lift, that is all.
But seeing that you havn't been to Moab either you wouldn't know that. ;)

its not ALL driver.....

no way.....

There are plenty of nasty modification errors you can make on your rig, that no amount of driving skill can overcome.....

saying that its "all driver" assumes you can put the best driver in the crappiest built rig, and it doesn't matter....kinda like expecting a World Champion billard shooter to win tournaments using a broomstick for a cue.

I love how threads start out as one thing, and end up in a bash fest.
Thought I was the only one.
Id comment but the Forum Fixer will surely jump in and edit

I thought you guys were brothers and were all going to the full width axles and under the frame conversion.

But on a side note, I think you are going to have t do something with or where you mount the springs. If you want to do it right, and flex like mad. You'll need to get some longer springs, otherwise just doing the blocks will just make you the ultimate poser, :D, maybe we can get a big belt like the WWF, "ULIMATE POSER" give it away at Moab. :laugh2:

Hey at least I tried to stay on topic here, :D

Just my experience boys. I've been Jeeping Moab for over seven years now so no, I'm not going to buy driver error. I did hear about a neat trick though. I've heard you can run your winch line down and attach it to the axle for use as a temporary limiting strap, keep that center of gravity equal. Anyone tried this?

They can't?
Just to show off one night I took a real broomstick to the bar league.... and did pretty good, too.

david, i know what yer gettin at, haven't seen it done first hand, but many of us, especially the long arm folks run limiting straps to keep the front end from UNLOADING......

it is the numero uno negative trait of long arms, or any rig with a higher CG or roll center.....suspension unloading on ledge climbs is difficult to be MR COOL DRIVER to get out of....another example of how the rig, not the driver can be severely handicapped....

here's another one for you david.......I hearda couple folks have attempted the waterfall on upper by filling their tires with water!
That's something I'd like to see!

JP magazine (or 4wdsu) has an article this month with a Jeep that has a winch mounted in the rear. Its attached to the rear axle and its supposed to "pre-load" the suspension.
Interesting
