Pull plug wires and plugs...clean plugs and blow out wires.
pull distributor cap and clean...Make sure it is dry.
Check air filter and see if it is caked with mud.

make sure your radiator is clear of mud...Don't want to over heat it.

Start there and check back. And also check your diffs and see if they are full of water...maybe check the tranny fluid for mud also.

could you have gotten water in the exhaust? would that cause problems like you are having? just a thinking out loud.

I'd start unpluging sensors and inspecting/cleaning connections.

you could have still bent a rod or two even if it doesnt make noise.

sounds like you may have damaged some bearings, only the oil pump if your lucky. Was there metal in the oil?

i've dunked my XJ in quite a bit of water and i keep a spare TPS in the glovebox just for such occasions.
