My wifes Toyota's A/C is acting up. The compressor is getting noisey. Is there anyone who has experience working on Auto A/C?
I just have some questions and sure as hell am not taking it to a Toyota dealer.

all i know is that my compressor got noisy then i smelled a realy unique burning smell and saw some smoke come from the engine compartment right before it fried itself. all the noise came from the engine compartment and not the vents if that helps at all.

Funny its quit now. It did that last year...got noisy for a short period of time then quit.
I'm wondering if the compressor is building up too much pressure.

The guys up at Smitty's at the base of Weber Canyon are pretty good with AC. They fixed up the wife's Suburban earlier in the summer. Reasonably priced service too.
