Need help getting 88 xj running

I have a off road buggy with a 88 4.0 running gear. It has all the factory wiring and dash panel only. Its kinda cobbled together. It ran when I bought it, but I have torn it down and have updated battery cables, alternater, radiator etc. Its been down about 9 months and when I went to fire it up it just turns over and won't start. Is there anybody in Southern Ca. that works on these and can figure out why its not running and clean up the wiring etc. The dealer won't touch it. Thanks for any suggestions.

start with the basics: air, fuel, spark? adequate amounts of each?

there is a strong possibility its your crank position sensor

its getting air and spark..how do I check fuel? I didnt replace or touch the crank sensor

is the fuel pump running?? you should hear it cycle up when key is turned on.

turn the key on and press the valve on the fuel rail and see if gas comes out
