Swapping the tailhousing on a 2wd AX-15 to a 4wd

I've got a '97 2wd AX-15 that is a good tranny. I have a 4wd tranny that is grinding to a slow death. How hard is it to convert the tailshaft on the 2wd tranny to a 4wd tailshaft?

The tailshaft housing is easy - converting the transmission to a 4WD configuration is not. You'll also need to swap mainshafts, so you're likely in for an overhaul anyhow...

Its not that hard if you got the tools, instructions, and time....Mainshaft is pretty straight forward swap...Might as well get a rebuild kit, and replace all bearings, seals, and syncros while you're in there....
