Is it like car buying? I assume I can get them to knock a few bucks off the list price, but how much is a good deal? I'm looking at a $4300 Yamaha.

Pretty similar, theres a MSRP, and a retail value for the ATV like a car. They are more likely to throw on a part or 2 than knock money off, thats your best chance to get a winch usually. Some will also compete with other local dealers, just a thought. Its also like cars in the fact that you can get one a year or 2 old for significantly less than a new one.

Shop around. Around here, you can go 30 miles in either direction and there will be a significiant price difference at the 2 dealers.

Thanks for the tips, the first place I went to dropped $1000 off but then put it right back on with destination charges and such.

First of all, don't pay more than a couple hundred for setup and destination charges. Setup takes about an hour, that's around $65 at most shop rates. Destination charges should not be more than about $125 or so. If it is a very popular model, supply and demand rule the day. Think about getting a leftover from the previous model year, most dealers are willing to work with you to get rid of old stock. Finance it and you will get a better deal. Make sure you get a finance agreement with no prepayment penalty and pay it off shortly after you take delivery. Get a strip down base model and get your accessories after the fact. You will get a much better deal on accessories online. Having cash is not very compelling to most dealers nowadays because they get their cut of the financing up front.
