They recovered my XJ and it is not in that bad of shape. Only the drivers side wing window was broken. They told me four windows were broken on the phone. I gues the impound yard does not know how to use a window crank:shocked:? As far as mechanical goes... I need a new steering column, and the yolk is pretty well destroyed on the rear diff. They took my spare, highlift, roof rack and stereo. I am pretty happy right nowparty1:party1:party1:

I just got it back about an hour ago and it is in a friends yard behind his RV gate. I will be over there every day after work (he has A/C in the Garage and a lot of cool tools) I do promise to have pics up to document the rebuild.

I am glad to hear that you got her back. Maybe with any luck you can have her repaired and make the camping trip. Should make for a good campfire story.

awsome...i had my 'yota stolen from my g-pa's house and then my mom drove up beside it on the freeway..the dude was driving it..lol...so i know exactly how you feel...im hoping to have the XJ done for the trip too

I bought a Remington 870 Express Magnum 12 guage yesterday for that very dream. My dream is to catch them in the act and make them piss themself waiting for the police.:firedevil

Glad you got it back in as a good of shape as you did. Depending on who takes them, they get trashed pretty good.

I picked one up today at a pick a part for $22.50. With tilt!! That means a lot to me though thank you. I also got a new wing window with the frame for $2.50. I spent $50 total and came away with a lot.

I can already tell I am going to meet some great people here. I am also a member of reefcentral.com and I have met some of my best friends because of my fish tank.

I have been reading about people using mid 80's Lebaron hood vents for additional cooling. I picked up 2 pair for $6. I am using a pair and I got the others for my friends Comanchee.

SO I worked on it for about 6 hours tonight and got quite a bit done. New steering column is in as well as the window the bastards broke. I also replaced the rear hatch struts, all of the window cranks and the center console lid. They sure broke a lot of random small stuff. Anyway tomorrow the tumbler gets swapped out so I can use my old key, then Saturday it gets all new belts, hoses, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, rear pinion seal and U-joint which means I will be driving it home Sunday after the kill switch and such gets installed.

It is a good day...
