I need to replace the e-brake cables since they bang on the muffler with my 4 1/2 inch lift. I have the articles and have all the parts in hand (including the 8mm rod and coupling nut) so the approach is not the question. I also have the 94 Wrangler right side cables, so length is not a problem.
The problem is getting the sleeve to snap into the brake backing plate. The XJ sleeve has a cup washer and O-ring beyond the tangs. The Wrangler does not. There clip on the Wrangler is shorter, so you can't put the cup washer and o-ring on it. If you put it in without the cup washer it just flops around in the hole. How is it done? the diameters of the clip ring are the same.
