92 brakes vs 86 brakes?

I have a donor axle i am gonna swap into my xj (92) from a 86. I noticed the brakes are different and if i wanted to keep my current brakes i would need to swap the knuckles. Are the brakes better in my current setup or will the 86 system be the same?

The 86' axle doesn't have ABS(first yr 89')that is most likely what's differant. The tone ring is on the outer axle shaft. If you want the ABS to work that will have to be changed over.

If the rotors, pads, or calibers are smaller I'd want the larger ones.

why are you changing axles? is the a 86 a disconect unit? if so its a downgrade

Its a bit of a project.. Swaping my axles (non disconnect) into a 86 since the 86 d30 has 4.10s. The vacuum disconnect wont be a issue then.
