it's supposed to be 98 degrees, 90% humidity and 75 degree dew point here for the next few days. anyhow i just had my roofing replaced last week and i bought an attic fan, enlarged a hole i already had for a vent, and installed it. i have a multi-level house and all the bedrooms are on top level. even with all the regular vents and tons of insulation, it still got pretty warm on the top level at night, especially since the a/c doesn't run as much at night. so my point is , the fan is well worth it , keeps the upstairs the same temp., as the rest of the house. for 58.00$, or( 106.00$ for the temp/humidity removal model,) should pay for itself real soon, hell maybe this week. oh also helps obviously during the day since it keeps excess heat out of the attic all day long. just an fyi, since we are all cooking in most parts of the country.

Which kind did you get, the one that goes on the end of the roof to move air thru the attic or the one that goes thru the ceiling with the louvers so suck air out of the house ?

yeah, i had my attic access panel open when i wired mine up, was sweating my ass off. when i plugged it in the t-stat was ready to go and it started sucking nice air-conditioned air right past me and out of the house, felt good after being stuck in the attic for several minutes. mine just removes hot air from attic area , but my parents had a whole house fan on their farm and it worked pretty well. i prefer a/c, but it was better than just windows open.
