a long shot but I thought I'd ask.
any chance somebody would be willing to help me put in a steering box tonight, Wednesday or Friday?
I have the necessary tools (pitman arm puller etc..) however it would be helpful for me to have somebody around with more knowledge than I.
I am willing to travel. probably farther than one would think.
thanks :)

It's really not hard at all brutha. Just remember to pull the steering shaft bolt completely out of the hasp that holds it to the input shaft; take a large drift or flat ended wide punch and give the pressure line nuts on the box a couple good smacks to help 'em break loose easier so you don't round 'em out; use two hammers and smack opposite sides of the pitman arm at the TRE at the same time to get them to separate - do not try to hit the TRE threaded end if you plan on re-using the TRE; then just unbolt the box, swap out the pitman - it only goes on one way; reverse instructions for install of everything else.

Use a bungy to keep the steering wheel from moving or you'll be buying a new clockspring.

put a 2x4 or jack handle across the top of your engine bay with a rachet strap around it to hold the steering box in place you while you R & R

1) remove the floor mat before screwing it to the floorboard.
2) make sure you get it all the way around the steering column, don't cover up the ignition.
...did I do mine wrong?
