Hey Gear Heads!! Check my pattern for me would ya.

Here's the first pattern. I'm thinkin' to remove about .005" from the pinion shims. Backlash is at .006

Thoughts? Opinions?

HP Dana44 with 4.88 gears.

Frank , Did you remove the pinion shim yet? Did it help or go too far? I think I would have been in the same place as you wondering if I should do 1 more shim. Let us know.

That pattern is good where it's at. You may find removing .005" might put you too shallow.

...and if anything it could use to be just a touch deeper. I'd run it like that.
