Red Injector Clip

I found this:




while inspecting for any cracks in the head. I just bought this XJ about 500 miles ago. It is apparently an injector clip and all six are there and this would make 7 and it was just hanging out on the valve cover.

Is it safe to assume the injectors have been replaced? And if so, is this common for an 01 4.0 w/48k miles?

some shops remove the injectors and attach them to a pressurized machine to clean them. this may explain the left over clip, it doesnt really mean they were replaced.

There are similar clips on some of the other connectors. Look around and see if there's one missing someplace else.

yep that same clip is holding my electric fan connector together on my 97
