Tube door covers

I went a different route with my tube doors than it seems most have. Mine bolt on to the existing hinges, and they stay for most of the year. I used to have cheap plastic covers with velcro, but last night I went out to the fabric store and bought some thick canvass and some zipper.

I designed mine to follow the contour of the entire frame, and I am outlining them in the canvas, and making a zip out window. they will still be velcroed on, but now then should be relatively perminant. They are pinned together now, and when I get them together I am going to take them to an upholstry shop to have them triple stitched.

Has anyone gone this route, and if so, what might have you done differently?

I am in class now, but when I get home I will try to load up some pictures.

btw this is my first time with photobucket

thats pretty cool

Keep the rain out/keep fiance happy. I can lean out just fine, the top bar is just above seat hight. Doors are usually in the naked form, those covers are a velcro onto the door frame deal. Since My only forms of transportation are the jeep and a motorcycle, I keep the covers folded up in the back and if it starts to rain and I dont feel like gettign wet I throw them on real quick.

The main reason for the canvass doors over my old clear vynal ones is that UV degrades any glue I use to adhere the velcro to the door. this way it will just be sewn on

It seems to, these covers are actually replacing some that I hade made out of just velcro and vinal. Granted, I used industrial strength velcro from wally world. I eventually did have a problem with the glue breaking down, but I ghetto rigged it with staples last year and it held fine on the interstate
