Putting my '90 4.0l back together, I noticed the oil slinger has a keyway cutout, but the key for the timing gear does not protrude enough for the slinger to use it. I double checked on my old crank as well. And, of course the key for the H-B is too far forward. So my question, is the slinger simply just pinched tight between the H-B and the crank timing gear? Judging by the clean and dirty marks on both sides of the slinger, that appears to be the case. Thanks for your help!
